These Terms of Use govern your use of the Sound dB iOS application. By downloading or using the App, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, accessing, or using Sound dB, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.
2. The App
Sound dB is a personal sound-level meter. It uses your device microphone to estimate ambient sound pressure level in decibels, can optionally record live sound, can attach a location to a saved session, and may show banner advertisements.
3. Measurement disclaimer
Sound dB is for informational and personal sound monitoring only. Microphone hardware, cases, placement, and environment vary widely. Readings are estimates and are not calibrated laboratory measurements.
Do not use Sound dB for certified occupational, legal, medical, safety-compliance, or insurance purposes. Do not rely on the App as the sole basis for hearing-protection decisions in hazardous environments.
4. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Sound dB on Apple devices that you own or control, in line with the Apple Media Services Terms and the App Store rules. You may not copy, reverse engineer, resell, or misuse the App except as allowed by law.
5. Privacy and device permissions
Sound dB processes microphone audio in real time on your device. Live recording is optional and starts only when you choose it. Recordings stay on your device unless you share them. Location is used only to tag saved sessions when you allow it. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
6. Advertising
The App may display ads provided by Google AdMob. Ads are not a measurement of sound and do not affect saved readings. Your use of ads is also subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy.
7. User conduct
You agree to use the App in compliance with all applicable local, national, and international laws. You agree not to use recordings or location information to harass, surveil, or harm others, and not to interfere with the App or its advertising services.
8. Intellectual property
The Sound dB name, design, and software are owned by the developer of Sound dB. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you. Apple, the Apple logo, and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that readings will be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that the App will meet a particular professional or regulatory standard.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sound dB and its developers are not liable for any damages, hearing loss, legal citations, workplace claims, fines, or equipment damage arising from use of or reliance on the App’s sound readings, recordings, maps, or alerts. Your sole remedy is to stop using the App and delete it.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
